We have stayed in this hotel many times when it was the Ramada and never had cause for complaint, however my husband and I were there in June 2019 to relax prior to my going into hospital for an operation and found it far from relaxing. The staff no longer wear uniforms and it was therefore hard to distinguish between the staff and the paying guests, the standard of food was far below that of a four star hotel and the service in the restaurant was painfully slow - it took nearly an hour to serve us a one course meal...... If all of this was not bad enough when eating breakfast the following morning we were subject to foul and abusive langue coming from a team of the hotels advisers/managers who were holding meeting at the table next to us. My husband complained directly to them and we made a decision there and then that this hotel is no longer the sort of place that we will revisit and will not be advising anyone else to stay there.
This Hotel The BLISS is beautifully situated ,The views are outstanding from the ROOF GARDEN, and we had fantastic views from our room on the third floor a waterway which is a haven for wild life of every description .The staff could not have been more helpful,breakfast was amazing a wide choice of quality great food.car parking was taken care of with underground car park, a very short walk to every amenity, and lovely shops in LORD STREET. We are going back.
Location is great We were going to a show at theatre next door so could not have been better, however we were Somewhat disappointed with this newly renovated hotel Yes it is all newly decorated and looking swish! But they have overlooked the principle of customer service. On the night we stayed as previously stated we were going to a show next door so had booked an early (6pm) table for dinner. obviously so had a number of other guests that evening, unfortunately no one had bothered to check the bookings in relation to the number of staff on duty! There were only two people seating and serving customers in the restaurant leading to a lot of dissatisfaction amongst other guests - we were relatively lucky as we were served within an hour but one couple next to us left as they had been sat for half hour without their order being taken and another couple left without waiting for their desert to be served.The staff were doing their best there just wasn’t enough of them to cope. We also felt that the menu didn’t give a lot of choice although the Chicken and Ham pie was very tasty we would have had to ‘eat out ‘ if we were staying longer. Breakfast was adequate but nothing to shout about, only choice of eggs was scrambled( been sitting too long) and fried ( had to wait as only one broken one left) Sorry Bliss but dont think we will be back!
Great room as usual. Very comfortable bed!Great bonus - being able to have fresh milk for drinks.Had a lovely relaxing drink on the balcony after the show next door.Good choice for breakfast- lean bacon but only one choice of eggs (scrambled).Sure we’ll return.
Came here for our 6th wedding anniversary! We’d stopped back in 2013 for our honeymoon when to hotel was a Ramada so fancied giving it a go again!We used some Clubcard vouchers towards the cost too which was great :) - every little helps! Our room didn’t come with breakfast but reception swiped our debit card on arrival and put some money on hold so we could have breakfast and some extras etc then pay at the end. We stopped in room 402 and it was a nice spacious room. The air con was very powerful in the room and the WiFi connection was superb throughout the hotel and very fast too!Room was a little noisy on the Saturday night because there was something on at the theatre next door but luckily due to aircon, we didn’t have to have the windows open.Had a look at the menu and was sadly very disappointed by the lack of choice on there - it seemed like an over-expensive bog standard lunch menu and we asked if there’s another menu we’d missed and we were told no, it’s all new so they will be adding a new menu soon. Fair enough - I’m just glad we hadn’t paid for half board or we’d literally have been ‘half bored’ with the food, haha! Luckily Southport is full of lovely restaurants so this wasn’t an issue really. We can highly recommend ‘the brass pig’ smokehouse and trattoria 51 which is a lovely and very reasonable Italian across the road from Bliss hotel!Sadly on the first morning we had the shock of a lukewarm shower - no hot water! We informed reception and the gent was very apologetic and said someone’s coming to look at the fault and they quickly rung us later to say it’s all sorted but they’ve taken the cost of the breakfast off us - we felt this was a lovely gesture!! :) Breakfast was amazing both days! So tasty and lots of choice for everyone! The bar staff were friendly too, I’m pregnant with our third child and when I asked what mocktails they did, he said there’s not much variety on the menu but he’ll make whatever I like! The mojito mocktail (that wasn’t on the menu was amazing - very impressed!) didn’t catch the guys name behind the bar but he seemed to be the king of cocktails as all the other staff were watching him! Overall an extremely pleasant stay. We’d like to return! :)
