Had one night stay before holiday with parking. Check in staff were ok enough as were the bar staff. The room itself was very nice and had everything and extra pillows were bought within minutes of us calling reception. Highlight was the transfer driver who was brilliant
Our first stay was good so we didn't hesitate to book again before flying to the USA. The young lady on reception was very pleasant and made us very welcome. This time we got lucky and were upgraded to the executive floorThe room was spot on , we had pre booked a two course dinner but ended up having 3 courses at an extra charge and all was good with just one negative and that was the deserts ( cheesecake & sticky toffee pudding ) as whilst both tasted good the portion size was really small.Breakfast in the morning was just what we needed with a good choice of hot and cold dishes.
We booked this hotel to stay on a Sunday evening due to an early morning Monday flight for our holiday, the check-in was okay and room appeared adequate although it could have done with a bit of a make-over, chipped sink in bathroom badly filled in and hair in one of the beds from previous guests! We were asked at check-in if we wanted to book into the restaurant which we did, we went to our room to freshen up then went to the bar for a drink and then into the restaurant, we sat down and initially ordered a bottle of wine whilst looking at the menu, 30 minutes and 2 requests by us to different staff later we were still waiting for our bottle of wine, we could see other people on tables nearby getting agitated by the delay in food, we ordered our food nothing particularly out of the ordinary, one rare steak and two burgers, 40 minutes later and we were still waiting and it took my husband speaking to the manager to prompt the delivery of our dinner. To say we were disappointed was an understatement, steak was medium to well and the burgers had no flavour so we called the manager over to complain who appeared surprised. We left the restaurant and the food and could see other guests in the restaurant looking equally perplexed. It was disgusting but we decided to give the Hotel a second chance on our return from holiday to stay overnight and have breakfast, how bad could it be? The same restaurant manager was there at breakfast and recognised us and immediately apologised for the bad service we have received 10 days earlier, he suggested that at our first visit that we had low blood sugar at the time which caused us to complain, we bit our tongue as it had nothing to do with low blood sugar and everything to do with bad service and really bad food. The breakfast was woefully inadequate, mediocre at best, we gave our room number and said it was for a table of three which they showed us to, only 2 cups on the table and despite repeating our requests for tea & coffee three times they still got it wrong and we had to ask for additional crockery. Orange juice was watered down, and the cooked breakfast was just plain and had no flavour. Needless to say we will never book at this hotel ever again, they got everything wrong on so many levels, we have previously stayed at the Hilton and Raddison blu and will look to book there in the future, it may cost a little bit more but it’s so worth it than staying at the Clayton hotel.
Stayed overnight prior to a 6 a.m. departure and left the car for a week. The room was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful. Most impressive of all was the courtesy bus service which is always available at short notice for trips to and from the nearby terminals. On returning from our holiday, the bus was waiting for us by the time we had walked the short distance to the pick up point. The driver collected our car keys for us from the hotel reception. then drove us to our car. This was excellent customer service which exceeded our expectations. Within 5 minutes of calling for the bus from the courtesy phone in the terminal, we were in our car and driving home. We didn't eat or drink in the hotel, so can't comment on that, but for our purposes this hotel could not have been better.
We have stayed here a couple of times when flying from Manchester. Decent sized rooms and great location near airport, we normally leave our car here and it's well looked after, we will be staying again the next time we fly from Manchester.
