We stayed here on Day #3 of our Coast to Coast walk. Before meeting Bev and her husband at the house, we were greeted by a delightful Border Collie who accompanied us up the lane.Bev showed us to our clean and spacious room with a comfortable bed. The shared bathroom, just down the hall from our room, was clean, bright and had plenty of hot water. As the B&B is not in town, I had called ahead and Bev prepared us a delicious vegetable curry dinner with fresh strawberries for dessert. She even got us non-dairy yogurt and milk! Our breakfast the next morning was piping hot and delicious.Exactly what we needed to head out for another long walk.
This was our second visit to Greenbank Farm. The first time was in 2010 doing the Coast to Coast walk and it was the first place we thought of when we needed a one night stay before walking the Ullswater Way.So many places ask for a minimum of 2 or 3 nights booking but there's a welcome at Greenbank for as little or as long as you like. The rooms are clean and comfortable, constant hot water for showers and nothing is too much trouble for Bev.An early breakfast was ready and waiting for us along with packed lunches. All VERY reasonably priced. We will certainly go back again and can't recommend Greenbank highly enough.
This may be a working sheep farm, but it is also a first class B&B. Bev welcomed us warmly and put our gear in the drying room for us. Our room was a beautiful, cozy, spacious room, with wonderful old beams running across it. The bathroom was a shared one down the hall, but it was no problem at all.Greenback is about a mile from the places to eat in the village, so you may wish to eat first before showing up at the B&B. Bev suggested as much to us. She was a font of information, and gave us great advice for getting back on the C2C, even showing us a less treacherous descent from Kidsty. Our clothes were clean and dry by breakfast time. We would be happy to stay here again.
Stayed for 4 nights June 2018 whilst visiting Patterdale with a walking group. Our host Bev Iredale was very welcoming. The accommodation was comfortable and quiet with lovely views towards Angle Tarn Pike, and clearly popular with Coast to Coast walkers.Excellent value for money and I would certainly stay here again. It is a mile to walk to the nearest pub or Patterdale hotel from the farm.
We stayed here on our Coast to Coast hike. It was the cheapest of the places we stayed, so we weren't sure what to expect, but we were really pleased with what good value it was. The main difference with other places we stayed was that there was no ensuite, but with only one other guest we had no queues for the bathroom down the hall. The room was basic but nice. The best thing about this place is the location. Out of our window we had a great view of the charming garden out the front of the farmhouse, where there was lots of garden bird activity. Beyond that we could see across Deepdale to Gray Crag and Caudale Moor. Best of all was the view of Place Fell from the shower in the shared bathroom.Bev, our host, was friendly and welcoming. We had a good chat on arrival and also at breakfast before we left. Breakfast was good with porridge available. Packed lunch was also good value.
