Just here for work- hotel looks like it could do with a make over, had gone for afternoon tea a few months ago and it was nothing special. At the conference food was good - lots of choice and fine for work purposes.Toilets not terrible tidy at 10 in the morning!
The minute you approach the hotel from the main road, the road tells the story. The road surface starts to deteriorate and as you head up the driveway towards the hotel, it's a sea of pot holes, craters, sunken speed bumps, overly harsh speed bumps. Then you see the hotel, pebble dashed, once white, now grey/black spreading all over the outside. The hotel sign only half illuminates, the car park needs repainting, the revolving door in doesn't revolve and you have to push it.Once inside the hall is quite smart, except on a Friday evening when it stinks of alcohol in the air. Reception overnight has a bell, but when I've turned up in the evenings there's no bell and you wait 5 mins for someone to notice you're there.I paid for a deluxe room, week 1 was horrendous, room 155 was more of a 'flatness' than a mattress, with indentations and no spring. Shower curtain over a bath, all a bit old. It all feels grubby and dark and stuck in the 80s/90s. Week 2 and I'm up to the 2nd floor and it's a slight improvement but still not great, at least this week they've remembered the bottled water that is meant to be included and I have a sofa, albeit not very comfortable. The staff are friendly enough and helpful to be honest, not too many complaints there although bar service, especially at lunch times, can be a bit slow. Food isn't bad but not a vast selection. The gym is ok.I think the biggest thing is, you think you're paying for a Hilton but it doesn't have a special feel about it at all and I'm not sure if that's where Hilton are in general these days or if it's just this place but it feels like it's a low priority for them and it certainly needs complete renovation throughout to make it feel clean, smart, modern, tidy.Wifi worked fine week 1, seems a bit slow week 2.
Stayed here due to closeness of international airport. Good staff and a good size room. Nice large tv but no fridge. Had to pay extra for breakfast and, unlike the other many hotels I’ve stayed at, they charge for wifi and quite lot too! The building and interior decor is shabby. A bit pricey for what it is. Our evening meal and breakfast were really good.
Second time to stay here, picked because it is pet friendly. The breakfast and dinner package is great value.
We arrived with 2 excited grandchildren ready to hit the pool only to be told it was out of action.......perhaps we could have been informed in advance?.....especially as was a family break. This was the reason we came! Offered complimentary drinks.....ok but not a lot else to do before dinner. Will have to visit Antrim Forum or Lisburn for a swim tomorrow.....ah well staff friendly.....not their fault.
