We stayed here for a 2 night getaway, the first thing to say is it is very centrally located so easy access to the village, Chinatown and the northern quarter. Also it is about ten minutes from spinning fields and The Lawn Club! The lobby is darkish but felt fresh and stylish, even cosy, nice looking bar ideal for a late night drink (though we didn't use it). Nice comfortable leather chairs, free water dispenser next to the entrance, it all felt welcoming. The young staff were very smiley and approachable so checking in was nice and easy. The room itself was minimalist as far as storage was concerned (I think that is the modern way) but otherwise comfortable with a nice bed and working lights. We did like the power cube for our tablets etc, better than scrabbling around trying to find power sockets! The bathroom 'pod' was bright and the shower was easy to access. We also found the wi fi easy to access as usual. One thing is that we found the pillows harder than we liked and so asked downstairs if we could have 2 softer ones. I had the feeling as we left that we would find 2 more harder pillows on our return (perhaps a slight language problem) but that was not the case; in fact no extra pillows or softer pillows had been left at all! We left it at that. All in all we had a great base for our stay and we would return.
Five of us recently stayed here for one night while attending my son’s graduation. I had asked if we could have an early check in so we could get ready for the ceremony, this was no problem with us able to access our rooms from just after 11am. The rooms were clean and modern . The staff couldn’t be more helpful and went the extra mile, for example I had gone to use the iron and one of the staff noticed and appeared with an anti starch spray for me to use ,also at breakfast the coffee dispenser had been getting refilled and without me asking one of the staff came to our table with a cup of coffee for me. I know it’s just wee things but the service was so personable compared to most hotels. The buffet breakfast was great with a nice selection of hot and cold food. The feel of the hotel is relaxed and modern . Refreshingly it doesn’t have a traditional formal reception area but the checkin staff appear as soon as you arrive and are quick and efficient . The communal area is relaxing, with big comfy sofas and chairs and it is glass fronted which was great for people watching while we had a drinks and bite to eat at lunchtime ( again the young guy serving at the bar was very friendly and helpful). Maybe the only negative was the limited selection at lunch with just a pre cooked warm foods like sausage rolls and croque monsieur. It was fine as we were going out for dinner that evening but a sandwich or salad would have been a nice option. The hotel is very central, we took the train from the airport and got of at Oxford Rd station and it was literally a 5 minute walk to the hotel. We had a brilliant day at the graduation with the hotel just adding to our experience and we would definitely stay here again!
Stayed 4 nights at this convenient Manchester "Economy/travelers' hotel"...close to Piccadilly Station, trendy gay village and other points of interest.Located next to the Novatel Hotel, Premier Inn and Genting Casino. comments: 1.Friendly, attentive staff greets you upon arrival with efficient hand-held tablet check-in. 2.Room was neat, clean, seemingly newly refurbished, relatively small, but more than adequate. 3.bathroom shower could have been a bit bigger for my comfort level and reminded me of those on cruise ships....also, they only supply 2 bath towels and a bath mat...(no wash cloths or hand towels). 4.Bar on 1st floor that also serves hand-made pizza. 5.Plenty near-by pubs & restaurants in the area...we enjoyed the Paramount pub 2 blocks away on the corner. 6.Nice breakfast buffet in the morning...personally think better than those I've had at other hotels like Fairfield & Residence Inns. 7.free Coffee & Tea set-up in the room. 8.We especially liked/appreciated the complimentary guest Ironing Room on the 3rd floor. 9.Only thing we could have wanted was more hanging space in the open "closet".Bottom line, the IBIS more than met our needs, expectations and budget...Recommend highly if you're looking for a well run, convenient, economical, efficient, clean/simple designed place to hang your hat in Manchester.
We loved this hotel , couldn't be in a better place minutes from Oxford and Piccadilly stations . The rooms aren't huge but have everything you need with kettle , hair dryers and air conditioning , would like a bigger tv but that's just us being picky. Check in was quick and even got a room early thank you to the lovely and cheerful staff . We didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food , we like to try the restaurants in a city centre but we did use the bar , drinks aren't the cheapest but again friendly staff . We would definitely stay here again as it is such good value and in a handy place for shopping and access to the city centre , and when you just need a clean room and a comfy bed this budget hotel ticks all the right boxes .
From the minute we walked in, to the minute we had to leave, 5 days later, everything was to our complete satisfaction. We were checked in by the delightful young lady from Spain, Irene, who was a pleasure to speak with for the whole of our stay, as were all her colleagues it must be said. Always service with a smile. We have stayed in many, many, Ibis hotels over the years from Amsterdam in the north to Nice in the south, via Bruges, Koblenz etc., too many to name. This one ranks as one of the very best. Cleanliness and comfort 100%.Air con was superb in the very hot weather ( in Manchester?? ). Quality and variety of food provided at breakfast was excellent. We shall return when next up North.
