This is good hotel for someone wanting to stay centrally and benefit from all that Manchester has to offer. It is clean and comfortable and has everything you need. The staff are very helpful, the breakfast was good and the view over the city is excellent. The car park, if expensive was also very handy.
My boyfriend and I flew in from the Middle East and needed somewhere comfortable to stay near Piccadilly station for the night before traveling on. Great value, super comfortable bed, clean room and Gabi on reception was excellent.
A big shout out to Sam from reception that expressed wonderful & warm welcome upon checking in. Great appreciation for getting my room so much earlier than check-in time. Thanks! Only comment is we able to hear next door's chatters. Not big deal.
This was truly my worst ever experience staying in a “4 star” hotel.First impressions were great as we were greeted by a friendly receptionist who kindly checked us in early, but everything went downhill after arriving back later that evening. This hotel had no soundproofing between our bedroom and the next and voices could clearly be heard through the walls although they weren’t talking particularly loudly. As we would not be able to sleep due to this it took 3 visits from our room on the 12th floor to the reception desk on the 1st floor to speak to the reception and duty manager who both insisted that there were no other rooms available that we could be moved to.After promising to come to the room I actually had to go back down to reception on two occasions to chase him up as he did not appear. After the reception/duty manager wasting 3/4hr-1hr late at night (when we should have already been in bed) and me then insisting that we be moved to another room the duty manager miraculously managed to find another room to move us to having told us on multiple occasions they were fully booked. We could have been moved after first talking to them and not after 3 attempts. This is not the treatment you expect in a 4 star hotel. After finally being allocated another room we were given new room keys at reception and upon arriving on the 9th floor the room keys did not work.So yet another trip down to reception to get access to the room. With it now being so late we went straight to bed and the room seemed to be quieter than the previous one. That was until the guests next door arrived back laterin the early hours and guess what? Yes, this room was as bad as the previous one with the voices next door coming through the walls as if they were in the corridor standing outside your door talking. As we were now shattered by this time we just had to live with it until the morning except we didn’t even get to 0930 when our alarm was set as we were woken up before 0800 by the same guests next door talking which was also accompanied by the sound of their television. When I had complained the previous night the duty manager made out as if they had never had a complaint regarding this before and when the receptionist and duty manager had both come separately to hear it unfortunately no one was talking at the time they were in the room, but neither stayed in the room longer to hear it and both left more or left as soon as they arrived.Had they stayed longer they would have heard them start talking again.Upon checking out the next morning the gentleman on the reception automatically asked if we had enjoyed our stay to which I said no and explained what had happened. He showed much more compassion and advised speaking to the lady in guest services which we did do.She couldn’t have been nicer and I only wish the night staff could have been so helpful. The night staff made you feel as if you were imagining it all, but I can assure you it was truly as bad as I stated. No member of staff confirmed that there is a problem with soundproofing between rooms, but after experiencing our issue I read reviews on trip advisor and there were multiple reviews confirming other guests had the same issue we did.Guest services have compensated us for the horrendous night we had staying in this hotel, but it ruined our weekend in Manchester and we lost a good nights sleep because of it meaning we were tired on the Sunday before we even didn’t anything.I would not recommend a stay in this hotel if you can not sleep with sound emanating from the room next door through the walls.
Had a fantastic experience with a conference team with Toyin who was delightful, helpful and made the event fun. He was friendly and helped conference members of the British Association of Psychopharmacolhy team feel welcome
