Check in was a good experience, professional and friendly - what you'd expect. The room was very very small, dark and stuffy - no aircon / ventilation - avoid room 218. When I got back to my room in the evening of the second day, I found the cleaner had left their disgusting, damp, smelly 'cleaning' cloths on top of my suitcase and clothes. At check out I had to shout for the receptionist to come and check me out,he then took a call when checking me out instead of focusing on completing the check out task for me.
For location, great! For everything else from value for money, comfortable relaxation and hospitality areas through to the lift the hotel is dated and in desperate need of a refurb and redevelopment. When it comes to the rooms, they’re ridiculously small, with antiquated plumbing in the bathrooms and that’s before I re-emphasise that you cannot swing a cat quite literally. The tech in the room is old and cheap so overall not the best experience for £250. For the same money you could stay in far better hotels in London. This is not a reflection of the staff. They were very attentive and polite. The staff cannot provide an excellent service based on the layout and architecture of the building so this lets the experience down.
The room was comfortable and quiet, the service was great and the breakfast was fantastic. The location is excellent for shops and Oxford Street, major tube stations, and main bus routes. We have stayed here several times.
I stayed at this lovely hotel last night with my daughter as we attended the Robbie Williams gig in Hyde Park. On our arrival at the hotel, we were told our room was not quite ready and would be about 20 minutes. My daughter had already signed into the hotel online and were told we had room 118, a business class room, she had also asked if our room could be ready for 230pm and was assured it would be. The receptionist (who was totally brilliant by the way, Karl) apologised and said there was an issue with and housekeeping were sorting it out, I can’t remember what the number was going to be of that room though, and asked if we would like a drink while we waited. We went through to the dining area and while having a drink, Karl came through to us and apologised yet again and told us that there were issues with the carpet in our room and it was being deep cleaned and wouldn’t be ready until 5pm! There was the offer of a temporary, smaller room we could use until then and once our room was ready to be used, he would see to it that our luggage would be moved to the bigger room.We needed to get ready to go out for the evenings event and accepted the offer of the temporary room and free dinner, complimentary due to the issues we were having and because of the big difference in the cost of the rooms (no offer of a refund was mentioned by them at all). We used the room and decided that as we were really tired we would stay in that room (207) the view was of the rear extractor fan that hummed and stank of food, we had to keep the window closed). When we returned to our room after the gig, someone had been into our small room and moved our belongings around, we have no idea who that was or why! At breakfast though, the sugar cubes used on the tables ARE WRAPPED INDIVIDUALLY can you believe! In this day and age where we are all trying to reduce the level of plastics used in the world, this company thinks it’s fine to not only wrap individual sugar cubes, but also in the room the teaspoons, cups and glasses were also totally unnecessarily individually wrapped! There was a note on the bathroom stating that they were an environmentally friendly company....what a joke!Karl is an absolute asset to your company and despite it being a bit of a disaster, our stay would have been a lot worse if it wasn’t for his friendly and helpful attitude.
I have stayed in nearby hotels in the past butvin future will always come back to you. Hold on to Carl and the staff. They are wonderful. The steak and lobster fanrastic and the eggs benedict to die for. William
