Having stayed at this hotel many times before due to its central location and easy of access for my business needs. The hotel has undergone such an amazing transformation since the last time I stayed there, although it is still being renovated while I was staying there and that was not a problem at all !! My room was great and very comfortable and very clean, the only problem I experienced was with the internet television cutting out all the time and mean all the time, very annoying. The bar area has been moved centrally to the hotel which is much better and loos great too !! Breakfast was such a pleasure in the new dining room with a great selection of cereals, fruit and hot food...I will definitely be returning to the hotel as this is hotel has now been dragged into the 21st century, I had a really nice stay and thank you to all the staff for beingpleasant and attentive.
Just got home from this magnificent hotel . The rooms are lovely and the beds are the most comfortable ever . 2 massive feather pillows and the most luxurious bed linen . Massive flat screen on the wall . The breakfast was delicious and the waiting staff came refilling tea coffee etc. We were on the 3rd floor and didn’t see any signs of renovation except for the odd work man . The decor is beautiful and the hotel is ideally centred
Food was awful - I felt ill after the second day - the room was cold & everything seemed to be covered in a layer of dust - staff werefair & polite but obviously under stress - sonothing special - I would not book this hotel againagain
Through work I stay in hotels up and down the country every few weeks and by far this is the worst I have ever stayed in. We were told that the spa and gym were closed while building works were carried out , what we not told was the 2oom detour every time we went inand out of the hotel , the army of builders in the grounds drilling away from 0730 in the morning making dust and tramping muck in through the main doors , just what you need when you are going out in your finest! We left our room on the first night to go out after unsuccessfully trying to watch a telly which kept going off station o my to find our door would not lock , after contacting the duty manager we were told everything would be sorted when we got back WRONG we had to sleep with 1 eye on the door all night great start. Next morning after fighting our way through the workmen we were told when we got back that evening Everything would be ok which by now also included a faulty wc which ran all night , a shower which squirted cold water on your feet and several other things, got back in after a good day out only to find still nothing had been done including leaving our door open all day! Had to shift rooms and finally checked out on Friday and was told the management would contact us I the next few hours guess what 4 days later still nothing I seriously would not let a pet hamster stay there total rubbish .Supposed to be a Hilton hotel more like faulty towers.
The interior foyeris sumptuous and leads to a lovely massive lounge area and bar. The bedroom we had was beautifully decorated and hadtwo arm chairs and a kingsize bed. However, limited hanging space with a mini fridge below which meant it was not possible to hang trousers or dresses full length. The breakfast was a buffet with every imaginable hot and cold food - no need to eat again till the evening meal which was excellently prepared and efficiently served. Yes there was refurbishment going on but this in no way affected our stay except that the garden was off limits and the pool and gym were closed. The latter I think was only short term might be worth checking before you go. We had no trouble, in the four days we were there, with parking in the hotel car park although there is a daily charge. As a basefor exploring Harrogate and the glorious yorkshire countryside this is perfect. PS the cocktail waitress prepares the best Espresso MartiniI have ever tasted, apparently the secret is in the vanilla vodka.
