  My husband booked the Thornleigh not realising that this hotel had a Christian slant to it, was a little dismayed when we rocked up to the hotel and saw the sign we were then expecting a rather tedious stay with someone's views being constantly aired. What we actually got was a beautiful and kind reception from the hotel staff, a lovely room, a lovely little goody bag in the room. We stayed for a couple of nights whilst visiting friends and family the rooms were clean and tidy, we didn't partake in the breakfast and at no point was there any attempt to foist any religious views or leanings on us. On the whole as a non religious person I would definitely return to this hotel it is well situated, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the place was clean and tidy what more could you want from a hotel.

  old-style guest house type of accommodation. very friendly and attentive staff.we were full board and could not fault the food at all.i absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back.it was so relaxing there.nice and peaceful

  Chose ‘The Hideaway’ at The Thornleigh Hotel on a room only basis as a base to meet up with some old friends and was delighted that I did.In the room, upon arrival there was a ‘goody bag ‘ consisting of a gluten, wheat and milk free flapjack and juice - ideal for heading straight out onto the fells. There were generous supplies of UHT milk, so no problems with having several cups of tea. Room was clean and spacious and the bathroom had a good shower.Duty managers, Rob and Renata were most helpful - would definitely stay there again!

  The refurbished décor is very restful and appealing to the eye. All the food is of the best quality and the Staff are charming.This is an ideal location for solo travel or groups and conferences. You will not feel lonely.

  It was our first visit, we went with friends from church. Really enjoyed the week, our room was very comfortable and the food was delicious, Jane was very welcoming and the staff were lovely, we will go again.
